Outreach and Organizing

Northeast

Glaciology Meeting

I was the primary organizer for the Northeast Glaciology Meeting hosted at MIT in April 2024. Organizing activities included collecting information from participants, scheduling food to be delivered during the conference, making the conference schedule, and designing the NEGM logo. The meeting was a huge success, with ~70 attendees!

Adaptive Climbing

Group: Chapter Lead

I am the Communications Lead for the Massachusetts chapter of the Adaptive Climbing Group (ACG). ACG aims to create accessible, affordable, and transformational climbing opportunities for people with disabilities. As a chapter lead, I work with our lead team to facilitate climbing sessions, send out a monthly newsletter, and post on social media to recruit climbers and volunteers.

Science Club For Girls

Mentor

Every week, I help mentor 4th graders through science curriculum prepared by Science Club for Girls (SCFG). The girls are always super excited for each week’s activity (especially if it involves candy) and it’s a blast helping them have fun doing science. So far in clubs, we’ve built our own archeological dig sites and centrifuges, among a whole host of other fun activities. Along with the fun activities, these girls see themselves represented in their mentors, and I hope they remember SCFG when they’re thinking about what they want to do for college.

TEDx-Wellesley College

I gave a TEDx talk at Wellesley College in Spring 2023. I aim to make my science accessible for a wider audience to spread awareness about global warming and encourage people to take action. Global warming is a global problem, and all of us need to step up to help mitigate its effects on our planet and the people that live on it.

Committees

AGU Cryosphere Executive Committee

Member at Large, joined April 2024

Eliot Institute Social Justice and Inclusion Committee

Joined November 2023. The committee’s charter is to ensure that yearly Eliot camps are inclusive in organization, programming, policies, and procedures. I hope to use my position to raise awareness of the barriers campers with disabilities face, and implement support systems in all camps to address these barriers.
